Is the music video for Sleep Now in the Fire by Rage Against the Machine real? Did they actually shut down Wall Street?
Yes the Sleep Now in the Fire video is real and yes it did shut down the New York Stock Exchange. The video was directed by Michael Moore.
On January 26, 2000 filming for the video shut down the New York Stock Exchange in response to fears of crowds gathering to watch the filming. More was threatened with arrest during the shooting of the video, despite the band having a federal permit to perform.

What is the significance of the "Please remove before wearing or washing" tag on clothes? Is it a big deal if I put the clothes in the wash anyway?
Question of the Day - August 18, 2008
What is the significance of the "Please remove before wearing or washing" tag on clothes? Is it a big deal if I put the clothes in the wash anyway?
The "remove before washing or wearing" tag in clothing is typically a security device (usually an RFID tag). Stores use it to cut down on shoplifting and theft.
If you do not remove them, you could potentially set off security alarms in other stores when you're out wearing those clothes. This has actually happened to several people.

Question of the Day - August 17, 2008
Is it unhealthy to drink too much water?
Yes, drinking too much water can result in water intoxication. Water intoxication is caused when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside of safe limits by drinking too much water. However, it typically only occurs during water drinking contests or during extreme physical exercise where the body loses large amounts of sodium and electrolytes.

Are there ways to encourage aquarium fish to mate?
Question of the Day - August 13, 2008
Are there ways to encourage aquarium fish to mate?
While some fish are more likely to mate than others (some people joke that for guppies, you just add water) there are ways to encourage fish to mate. You can try increasing the water temperature slightly, increasing amount of plants, and increasing the number of females. Make sure you have at least one male and 3-4 females.

Question of the Day - August 11, 2008

A jatropha tree is a tree that can produce diesel fuel.
"Jatropha means "doctor food." It originated in South America, where it was once used for medicinal purposes. There are three seeds within the golf-ball-sized fruit. When pressed, its oil can be used as fuel in any standard diesel engine with zero processing, experts say."

Why was the tv show Freaks and Geeks canceled in 2000?
Question of the Day - August 7, 2008
Why was the tv show Freaks and Geeks canceled in 2000?
Nobody knows for sure why Freaks and Geeks was canceled in 2000 after only 12 episodes, but it seems that it didn't get a lot of love from tv programming and was aired sporadically rather than on a consistent schedule:
According to Brilliant But Canceled, "First it aired on a Saturday – “hope you’re staying in.” That lasted two weeks, then it was yanked off the air completely for three weeks to make room for the World Series. It finally came back on for three weeks… only to be pulled off for two months. When it was resurrected from that hiatus, it moved to Monday night – for two weeks!"
Also, I think it was a little ahead of its time. If it came out during the "Napoleon Dynamite" era I think it would have been a much bigger hit - as the Freaks and Geeks DVD was when it was released in 2004
Check out the Freaks and Geeks article on Brilliant but Canceled for more insight.
